- Kaudulla was declared a National Park on the 01st April 2002. Kaudulla national park is dominated by the Kaudulla tank built by the sister of the famous King mahasen who was the creator of the Minneriya Tank. The Kaudulla National Park includes Relapanawa Tank, Olumadu Wewa, Puliyan Kalla wewa, Mineriya-Kanthale Yoda Ela, Aluth Oya and hatharas Kotuwa Oya. The park is an elephant corridor and sits between Somawathi national Park and the Minneriya National Park. - The Kandyan Kingdom is the last Kingdom which spanned from 1592 where Don Juan or Konappu Bandara defeated Portuguese in Danthure battle and became the king of the upcountry by the name of Vimaladharmasuriya and affirmed Dhona Kathrina his Queen marking the beginning of the upcountry kingdom. It was declared a UNESCO world heritage site. Spanned from 1593 to 1815.
Tribes such as Yaksha, Raksha & Naga have inhabited the central Province. - The Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya was formally established in 1843 with plants brought from Kew Garden, Slave Island, Colombo and Kalutara Garden. The origins of botanical gardens date as far back as 1371 when King Wickramabahu III ascended the throne and kept court at Peradeniya. History tells us that King George V and Queen Mary of England planted the Cannonball Tree in 1901.
During the World War II the Botanic Garden was used by Lord Louis Moutbatten the supreme commander of the allied forces in South Asia as the headquarters of the South East Asia Command. It was the Royal Gardens from 1780 to 1798.

- The Temple of the Tooth Relic is a World renowned place of worship when the left canine Tooth of Lord Gautama Buddha is enshrined. It is named as a World heritage site in 1988 by UNESCO. - Lovers Leap Water Fall with its height of 30 meters which is a small but a scenic waterfall which offers sweeping views of tea plantations.
- St. Clar’s Falls is one of the widest falls in the country. It is commonly known as the “Little Niagara of Sri Lanka”. It is utilized for hydropower generation of the upper Kotmale.The falls is located along the Kotmale Oya a tributary of the Mahaweli river as it cascades over three rocks into a large pool.
- The Gregory’s Lake is a significant tourist attraction. It was built by Govenor William Gregory during 1872 – 1877 utilizing the water from Nanuoya . It was used for water sports and recreational activities during the British era. Visitors are offered boating and rowing.
- Tea first came to Sri Lanka in 1824 for a botanical exhibit. But the real production started 40 years late when a disease had destroyed a lot of coffee plantations in the Island. British tea planter James Taylor found out in 1867 that the highlands of Sri Lanka had a perfect climate for tea production. Significance:
- The Galle Fort was built by the Portuguese in 1588. The Fort was fortified by the Dutch in the 17th Century.
- The Galle Lighthouse was constructed in the 19th century by the British and is located South West of the Utrecht bastion. It is listed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage site.
- The Buddhist Temple in Galle Fort, Sri Sudharmalaya was built in 1889 and features Dutch – European architecture style. The temple is a UNESCO World heritage site. The statue of the sitting Lord Buddha faces the sea over the Clippenberg Bastion.
- The Meera Masjid Mosque is located across the Galle Lighthouse. The façade looks more like a Portuguese church. The iconic white mosque is an architectural mix of baroque British Victorian and Islamic details.
- The National Maritime Museum is located on Queen Street close to the Dutch reformed church. The building was constructed in 1669 which used to be the cinnamon warehouse of the Dutch VOC. One of the collections were the shipwreck of the Avondster (Evening Star). There are objects such as flags, bottles, vases and objects on shipwrecks.
- The Old gate is situated next to the Maritime Museum and is used as main gate to the Old Habor in the Dutch era. On the inside of the gate, you can see the coat of arms of the Dutch VOC surrounded by two Lions with the year 1669.
- The Dutch Hospital which is now a shopping & dining area including a courtyard was an excellent example of the 17th century Dutch colonial architecture. The structure is designed to keep out humidity and heat.
- The Galle Clock Tower is a popular landmark. It is located at the Moon Bastion at the same spot as the old guard room. The tower is built to honour Dr. Anthonisz.
- The Natural Harbour was already known in ancient times. It is said the biblical Tarsis from the time of King Salomo was located here. It was an important harbour of Sri Lanka until an artificial harbour was created in Colombo.
- All Saints Anglican Church is built in a Victorian gothic revival architectural style.

Breakfast at 8.00 a.m. and transfer to Anuradhapura (3-4hrs drive). The city of Anuradhapura is situated 220 kms away from Colombo in the north central province of Sri Lanka on Malwathu Oya.
- Visit Sri Maha Bodhi (The Sacred Bo- Tree)- After bringing Buddhism to Sri Lanka by Mahinda Thero in 250 BC Emperor Asoka in India sent his daughter Theri Sanghamitta to the island with a branch of the Sacred Bodhi obtained from the main stem of the bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya under which Buddha attained enlightenment. King Tissa received the sapling and planted it at the present site in 249 BC. Taking this information to account today (in 2013) the Sri Maha Bodhi tree is exactly 2263 years old. Thus, this tree is considered the oldest living tree in world in the recorded history.
- Visit Samadhi Buddha Statue- This is considered one of the best sculptures in the Anuradhapura era. It is thought to be done during the 3rd or the 4th century. It is made out of dolomite marble and stands 7 feet 3 inches (2.21 metres) in height. This statue was found in the present location in 1886 fallen to the ground with damages to the nose. It was then erected, and the nose was reconstructed. In 1914, it was found damaged by treasure hunters and re constructed again.
- Visit The Meghagiri Vihara (Isurumuniya Viharaya) – This is now commonly known as Isurumuniya Vihara or Isurumuniya. Isurumuniya is most famous for the stone carving of a couple located there. This carved stone was found in the royal pleasure garden and brought here. There are many interpretations for this carving.
- Visit Lovamahapaya (The Great Copper Roofed Mansion)- The king Devamnampiyatissa, the first Buddhist king of the country build a chapter house in this location on the instructions Mahinda Thero who brought Buddhism to the country. A century later king Dutugamunu (161-131 BC) built a massive structure of which the remains you see today.
- Visit Mihintale which is considered as the cradle of Buddhism. It is believed by Sri Lankans to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It is now a pilgrimage site, and the site of several religious monuments and abandoned structures.Overnight stay in Anuradhapura.



After breakfast at the hotel proceed to visit Polonnaruwa which is considered as the cradle of Buddhism. It is also referred as Pulathisipura and Vijayarajapura in ancient times. The modern town of Polonnaruwa is also known as New Town, and the other part of Polonnaruwa remains as the royal ancient city of the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa. The second oldest of all Sri Lanka‘s kingdoms, Polonnaruwa was first established as a military post by the Sinhalese kingdom. The Ancient City of Polonnaruwa has been declared a World Heritage Site. You can worship Somawathiya Chaithya, a Buddhist stupa where amazing events take place as the right tooth relic of Lord Buddha is enshrined also Rankoth Vehera and Vatadage.
In the evening, visit Minneriya National Park which is a hot spot for safari lovers because of its abundance of elephants. Furthermore, it is near the tourist-friendly Habarana and the world heritage sites Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. After breakfast at the hotel proceed to explore the Sigiriya rock fortress and its surrounding gardens. You can climb to the top of the rock and take in the incredible views of the surrounding landscape. Along the way, you’ll see the famous frescoes, which are some of the best-preserved examples of ancient Sri Lankan art.
After the climb, you will get to have a bullock cart and Catamaran rides. Dambulla cave temple, which is famous for its cave temple complex which has been a place of worship for over 2,000 years. The five caves are filled with hundreds of Buddha statues and vivid wall paintings depicting scenes from Buddhist mythology.
Next, visit the Dambulla Economic Centre which is a vibrant wholesale market located in the town of Dambulla in Sri Lanka. It is a popular trading hub that attracts a large number of buyers and sellers from all over the country. The market is known for its diverse range of products, including fresh produce such as fruits and vegetables, as well as spices and other goods. Visitors to the market can witness the energetic hustle and bustle of the local economy in action, and experience the unique sights, sounds, and aromas of this lively marketplace.Overnight stay in Dambulla.



After early breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Kandy via Matale. Enroute visit the Matale spice gardens, where you can see how Sri Lanka’s famous spices are grown and processed. Brief stop at Nalanda Gedige which is an ancient temple located in the Matale District of Sri Lanka. The temple is known for its unique architectural style that blends Indian and Sri Lankan influences. The temple is believed to have been built during the 8th or 9th century AD and is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
In the evening, participate for pooja ceremony at Temple of Tooth Relic which safe keeps the Lord Buddha’s Tooth Relic venerated by the Buddhists all over the world and explore the Temple of the Tooth Relic.Overnight stay in Kandy.



After breakfast, proceed to Nuwara Eliya. Enroute visit Peradeniya Botanical Garden located just outside the Kandy. The gardens boast a wide variety of plant species, including orchids, palms, and medicinal plants.
Once you arrive in Nuwara Eliya, you can explore the town and visit its many attractions.Enroute take a guided tour of a tea plantation to learn about the history of tea production in Sri Lanka and sample some of the country’s best brews.
